Pensthorpe

After doing some washing and hanging it out, I drove over to Pensthorpe for when it opened to members at 9:30, aiming to get around before the tourists and children arrived. I started in the aviary (an old barn with netting for a roof) and very quickly spotted a bird needing help as it was lying on the floor with it's leg out caught in something. I found one of the assistants to help, but when he saw the problem he needed a more knowledgeable person to help the poor bird. As I was leaving, the assistant came over to thank me again for letting them know and to tell me it had been freed and apart from slight skin damage, it was fine (it was a ruff). I had a walk around the usual locations and around the lake, no ducklings or goslings to be seen. The flamingos were mainly hanging around the nest area where several females were sitting (difficult to get a clear photo). My collage is of two ruff strutting their stuff, a bearded reedling (a young female I think) and one of the many yellow flag irises out at the moment. This afternoon I've been watching more tennis whilst doing more admin.

I had to ring one building society as my ISA maturity choice wasn't reflected in the letter I was sent. It turns out to be the same as the option I chose but with a different ISA Issue number - it would help if they put the interest rate on the letter they sent to confirm my instruction was carried out correctly! For my troubles, they're sending me £25. Has anyone else noticed that financial services companies send you compensation when you ask to raise a complaint (in my case to get action to change the process) - presumably to stop it getting logged!!
