STAVELEY WEIR AT BARLEY BRIDGE

I had a day off sorting today and had a lovely morning out with Hubby.

We just went to Staveley, outside Kendal.  The roads were very busy and we really slowed at one point on the A590 almost to a standstill!!

We  Got parked OK but the damn ticket machine has now gone paperless and you can only pay by card or app and even then you don't get a ticket to prove you've paid you have give them an SMS or e-mail address.  WHAT IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANY OF THESE!!!??  Grrr just one of my current bug bears.

Still never mind, I put all the details in and then went into Wilf's cafe and found we got £3 back from out if we'd paid parking anyway so that was good.  Unfortunately I've since discovered that as I struggled to enter my email address I somehow missed off the numbers in it so I won't get the receipt - at least it should appear on my bank statements!!!

We had a nice coffee and cheese scone in Wilf's although it was pretty noisy and busy.  Then I remembered, it's Friday and it's *half-term - (*I almost said it's 5 to 5 and it's.......................) if you know you know.

Anyway I met three lovely doggies who were positively wanting attention and had eyes like saucers, so of course it would have been rude not to give them attention wouldn't it, and made us all happy!!!

After that we just walked round the back and did a short circular walk along by the river.  The Kent was in full flow today as you can see.  There were really lovely fully flowered meadows too, so we just enjoyed seeing all of that.

Whilst crossing Barley Bridge I saw something black in my peripheral visioniand thought it was a butterfly so stood still.  It wasn't a butterfly it was a few (according to Google Lens) Banded Demoiselles (part of the Damselfly family, according to the British Dragonfly Society).  See Extras.  I am very happy to be corrected if these are not demoiselles.  Not the sharpest photos but not too bad considering how fast they are.  They were a delight to watch.  According to the British Dragonfly Societh they love slow moving ponds, rivers, water etc - well it most was NOT slow moving today, although there were lots of damp, lush vegetation which they also love.

The walk isn't very far but it is very pleasant and we only met a couple of people so it was lovely.  There is a scar there too, which is only half a mile, but probably all up hill, maybe one day I'll be able to get up there!!!

Now back home and editing my photos, just done these few to start with so I could complete my Blip for today.

Do take care everyone and stay safe and I will see you all tomorrow.
