Prestatyn Station

THURSDAY

A busy day starting with a haircut in Rhuddlan, followed by a quick stop at the bowling club to check the condition of the green ahead of tonight’s match. The town was busy with police and TV crews - the funeral of musician Mike Peters was being held in nearby Dyserth this afternoon.

After a brief return home, I headed to Rhyl to help a relative transfer to a new care home in Prestatyn. The new place seems to be a significant upgrade.

I had left my car in Rhyl, so after a quick visit to the M&S café, I caught the 14:52 Holyhead train from Prestatyn back to Rhyl. I don’t think I’ve ever  stood on the platforms at Prestatyn Station before although I have passed through a few times on the train.

The platforms are set between the tracks, and reaching them involves a bit of a maze of steps, ramps, lifts, and bridges.

I quick walk on the promenade at Rhyl, and once reunited with my car, it was back home briefly, then off again to Rhuddlan again for our bowls match against Grove Park.

I was drawn against their top player - a mentally exhausting game but I managed to scrape a 21-17 win. Each team had five winners but we just lost out on the two points for the aggregate score.

After the match, I made a detour to Denbigh to put the bins out at the relative’s house before finally getting home at 9:30 pm.

A satisfying day—but absolutely shattered.

20,500 steps.
