Wednesday
The car was booked in for its brakes and a check over. I want to make sure things are all good to go for our big road trip in a few weeks.
The garage we go to is in Earlsfield where Mr C and I grew up. It’s funny going back and seeing the changes.
I caught the bus into Wandsworth where I was going to meet Mr C for a lunch date. He was in a work meeting so I had a wander around Southside, it was called the Arndale centre back in my day. I returned some shorts that I bought the other day. I also had a wander across the road to the redeveloped site of the old Youngs brewery. Something else from my childhood memories of the big shire horses pulling drays full of barrels and delivering to pubs along Garratt Lane and beyond and also the smell of the brewery. I then walked around the outside of the shopping centre that has also changed a lot. My first full time job after leaving school was to work for Abbey National (Santander) in this very place.
I then met up with Mr C and suggested trying the Thai restaurant you can see in this photo (in the old brewery area). We enjoyed something off their lunch menu and very nice it was too.
He went back to his office and I wandered around a bit more picking up a couple of bits before joining him in his office. The office is in a tower block and what a depressing place to work. He is lucky that he can work from home quite a lot of the time.
Once he clocked off he drove me to the garage to pick up the car.
