Today was another public holiday. I finished book #7 - The Kraken Wakes by John Wyndham. I really enjoyed the book. When it was written in 1953 about an alien invasion. When it was written the discoveries about the Earth, in particular the deep oceans were pretty new. The book describes how the press, governments and the economy react to the alien thread - mostly in disbelief in the face of the evidence. The aliens who hang out in the oceanic depths melt the ice in Greenland and Antarctica to attack humanity. Sea levels rise by 40 meters or so and temperatures drop. The description of humanities reaction to the external thread can be read today as our reaction to climate change. Anyway, a highly recommended read.

In the afternoon we went for a relaxed walk through the park which was very packed and had beer in one of my most favourite pubs.
