In Bolsward

Friesland has 11 cities. Two years ago we visited 8 of them. Every city has a unique fountain. Those 11 fountains were designed and made in 2018 when Leeuwarden was cultural capital in Europe. 

Today we visited Bolsward, the ninth city on our list. And the ninth fountain. This one is a huge bat. It is situated in front of a church ruin.  The inside of the church burned down in 1980. They've decided not to rebuild. They cleared away the rubble on the inside and put a glass roof over it all. Quite unusual. 

It was a wet day but we still enjoyed ourself in Bolsward.
