Sgwarnog: In the Field

Heath

I spent a low key leave day at home, sorting some photos in the morning then, when the sun came out, a long walk on the moor in the afternoon.

I had been hoping to see my first Small Heath butterflies of the year, and I did (main image), up near Dobrudden. The breeze was keeping them close to the ground though. I also circled round the clinker heap a few times, eventually seeing one Wall butterfly and a couple of Cinnabar moths.

As there was no rush to get back, I headed down to Shipley Glen and Trench Meadows encountering a few more butterflies: Speckled Wood, Green-veined White and Orange-tip, but overall it was pretty quiet.
