It was a pleasant walk through the fields from Dirleton to Yellowcraigs with Fidra and its lighthouse gleaming in the sun. The shipwreck that was exposed about three years ago was barely visible under the sand again and the recent strong winds had piled up mounds of sand against the dunes. Bass Rock looked brilliant in its white covering of thousands of seabirds while people who were disembarking at North Berwick harbour said the trip to see them and the seals at the Rock had been very worthwhile.
