Castle Rising

The weather forecast for today was dire…and so we were prepared for an ‘indoor activity day’ in the caravan.

There was torrential rain last night as we turned in..and it seemed to get stronger and stronger.

It was still pouring when I got up at 5 a.m. .. so much rain fell that we had some large puddles outside the caravan and several ducks had ‘moved in’. It started to clear up around 9 so I went out for a walk (3 miles) while the others got ready…

When I retuned the sun was shining.. the forecast had changed (again) and so we threw some lunch together, packed it up and headed to Castle Rising, near King’s Lynn (pictured)..it is an amazingly well preserved castle keep surrounded by huge earthwork fortifications. After looking around inside the tower we had our picnic sitting on the old walls at the front!

On the way back we stopped at Snettisham beach and walked along the coast for a while..lots of jellyfish washed up on the shore. A total of 2.5 miles walked this afternoon.

An unexpected bonus of a sunny warm day.
