Irises at Conningbrooke

Last Friday we had to collect some supplies for J from the hospital and NHS Procurement in Ashford, so we took the opportunity to return to Conningbrooke Lakes, a country park on the edge of Ashford composed of former gravel pits surrounded by grass and trees. Although it's opposite an industrial estate and close to the M20, it's a peaceful place for a pleasant stroll around the lakes on the grass, which is sufficiently well mown to push a wheelchair on it so long as the weather has been dry. It was a breezy afternoon, with lots of movement in the clouds and on the surface of the water, and the wonderful rustling and shifting light on the willow leaves as they move in the wind. The yellow flag irises were a dash of colour in an otherwise blue, green and brown/grey landscape, and as always I took many photos of trees and clouds reflected in the water, just one of which is my extra. It's not the most exciting place for J, who at heart would prefer a shopping centre or cinema, but she enjoys a change of scene and generally sleeps well after fresh air.
