Approaching Villefranche

This morning the ship anchored in the bay outside the town of Villefranche. From here we took a tender into the town. We first had a bus tour of Nice followed by a walking tour of Villefranche.

The town and bay is now visited mainly by cruise ships, but from 1948 until 1966 was the home port of the US 6th Fleet.

The main historical building is the church of St Michael built in the 1750s.
