Another Green World

Someone recently posted a brilliant macro shot - which they'd taken by putting the lens back-to-front on their camera, and focusing by moving nearer to, or further from the object.

Well, monkey see, monkey do.

I was very taken with the green colour on this tiny piece of pottery Andy found on the beach yesterday - so I thought I'd try the technique. The result isn't perfect, but I was amazed at the texture of the fragment: to the naked eye, it looks completely smooth - but as you can see, it's covered in little holes, just like pores. It really does seem like a different world.

Damn. I'm definitely going to have to get a proper macro lens now.
