Back to work

Well, back to work today—and it started rather abruptly with the alarm going off at 5:00 a.m. I got out of bed and began getting ready for the day. The weather didn’t help much—cold and rainy throughout. Hard to believe we’re nearly into June and still waiting for a glimpse of summer.

On my way to the office, I made a few seasonal observations. One of the gardens I passed had all its flower beds freshly dug over. The previous blooms had been cleared, and the soil was neatly laid, clearly ready for new planting. The wisteria has now come to an end, and the ornamental peonies have also finished for the season—small but interesting reminders of how quickly things move on. However, as I neared the office, the tall trees just outside caught my attention. They’re beautifully green now—so tall and full, looking absolutely lovely against the blue/grey sky. A little moment of calm before the workday began.
