Into the citadel

A spectacular drive through the mountains and along the coast to Calvi. This may be our main dose of culture. We went in search of the cathedral and found it at the summit of the citadel. We chose today as I thought it might be a bit much in warmer weather towards the end of the week. I wasn’t wrong, it was a bit much for me even today. Glad we made it, it’s really atmospheric and I hadn’t realised till we got there that Calvi was Christopher Columbus’ birthplace.
