Some months ago i mislaid my umbrella. It had a quirky handle which could act as a hook. I must have hung it on the back of a seat on the train. Given to me by the locum agency who negotiated positions for me ten years ago.
In 2017 I accepted a fixed term position in a management role in the hope that I could help lead changes in the way we provide services. After two extensions I opted for a return to clinical work. Largely, this was the attraction of helping the Whai Ora (patients) to make significant differences in their well-being. Another aspect drew me back to the inpatient setting; that was working with young doctors in training to become specialists.
In recent months the unit has seen a number of posts become vacant, which then get filled by locums for anything from a few weeks to a few months. Australia is attracting many of our trainees, due to better terms and conditions. That is my opinion, despite the resignation en masse of part time psychiatrists inNew South Wales
Today was challenging partly due to a reshuffle of which registrar is with which consultant in which part of the service. I have made a little stand
