So. Here We Are

Something in the Air

So it was the middle of the afternoon and I noticed there were Common Nighthawks flying over. I ran and got the big cam and had great fun photographing them as they sailed overhead. One of them was flying rather erratically and when I locked onto it, not a Nighthawk at all, or at least a different kind of nighthawk out on a daytime jaunt.

I've never thought much about our bats before, but now I know we have 8 kinds, not all of them common. This on was quite large, possibly it's a Big Brown Bat, but that is little more than a guess (it's big and brown, and Big Brown Bats are common). Bats do sometimes fly by day, and perhaps what ever was attracting the Nighthawks was attracting the bat?
