Bits and Bobs!

A very blustery Stonehenge

After lunch in one of Devizes' oldest pubs for the three of us, we left Little E at home to continue her exam revision and Big E and I continued to the village of Beechingstoke where the village fête and dog show was being held in the grounds of the thatched manor house (extra No1); felt like a scene from Midsomer Murders!

From Beechingstoke we continued through chocolate box villages and over Salisbury Plain, passing the white horse of Alton Barnes (extra no2), one of Wiltshire's eight famous white horses, as well as many signs of military presence, including tank crossings.

Next stop was Woodhenge (extra no3) where the skies opened so we didn't stay long. Thankfully the rain had passed by the time we got to Stonehenge but boy was it blowing a hoolie! After a walk around the stones (extras no 4&5) we warmed up with hot chocolate in the cafe then had a look at the reconstructed stone age huts (extra no6). Got back to Devizes this evening and felt so damp and chilly that we lit the log burner!

Thank you so much for your kind stars and hearts for yesterday's Wiltshire blips.
