What a brilliant day!

The party was an absolute success — everything went off without a hitch. The food was pure nostalgia: a proper old-school buffet just like their gran used to do. Egg sandwiches, sausage rolls, pinwheels, a mountain of crisps and biscuits, and not one but two homemade birthday cakes — Gran’s classic vanilla and a lemon drizzle from G. There were even KitKats, which made me smile.

The birthday girl was chuffed — you could tell how much she loved all the effort everyonehad made. Thoughtful as ever, she brought us back little gifts from her trip to Rome and even gave me a retirement card. Such a lovely gesture.

Later, we went on a wild garlic foraging walk — took a few snaps, including this one. I love how they all get on, chatting away enjoying each others company. Gus, Pickle, and Ruby came along too, racing happily through the woods. The smell of garlic in the air, dogs darting in and out of the lake, and the sunshine made it all the more special.

Feeling grateful tonight.
