Young 'uns

A young coot and a young moorhen sharing the small pond in Queens Park.

Coot chicks have black bodies, bright red beaks and a shock of orange-red feathers around their head, neck and shoulders. Moorhen chicks are black all over although they do share the same red and yellow beaks as the adults.

Early evening and we are now enjoying a clear blue sky and the strong winds from earlier in the day have now died down .... not completely though.
