SAD NEWS.

Found the little swan family this morning, they were enjoying the sunshine, when suddenly the big resident swan came flying down the canal. The poor mother started swimming away with th cygnets, but she was going fast and they were all cheeping as they could not keep up with her.  I followed them a a huge fight started, I kept following them, it was very upsetting. The little babies were getting tired but they kept swimming. The two males kept fighting. I then came home when they were swimming towards the Stables.  Have put a couple of extras.
As I was typing this a friend has just phone me to say they parents have been chased completely away and some people have managed to rescue three of the cygnets and are waiting for the SSPCA  They are still trying to get the other three before the heron does. Definitely not a good day. Might hear tomorrow, although I do not think I will be going to the canal.
