Peonies

A gorgeous day, cooler than usual for later May. Did some outdoor work and enjoyed the sunshine and cardinal activity - bright red feathers and twittering in the greenery. Cooked a favorite chicken recipe for dinner that involved a honey mustard sauce with herbes de Provence, and was moved to bake a chocolate cake. :-)

We've had an exciting couple weeks with family visiting and Isabelle's graduation last Saturday. Enjoyed a few days with W's mom here ahead of time, then a weekend at a farm south of Charlottesville, and then the first part of this week with my mom and sister here. Now the two kids are home - D for the summer and I for the time being as the job search ramps up. It was a little disorienting after the visitors departed and kids stayed, and I kept having to take stock of who remained in the house!

I worked Friday night for the first time in a couple weeks, but it was a mid shift 3pm-3am, which I found easier. Sunday and Monday I'm on nights again, as I'm scheduled for the Memorial Day holiday. I'm not looking forward to the two nights in a row (can't imagine doing three like I was a year ago), but then I'll have another week off.
