Levitation?
Friday Funday was more local this time, with coffee at the Storehouse and refillery, heading to West Linton across Auchencorth Moss. Here we stopped to chat with a couple of members of the model flying club , who had three battery-powered radio-controlled aircraft, including a spitfire. as we drove on I noticed a strange cloud formation to the south, see the collage in the extra.
Then following directions from nadinepierce, we took the rhododendron walk near West Linton, judging that this was probably the best timing for us.
And so it proved, with rhododendrons aplenty, mainly of horticultural varieties and very few wild type, among a tree-lined walk following the Cairn Burn. Joining the Lyne Water we continued as far as an ornate bridge where the Tala aqueduct forms a path the the south.
On crossing the bridge we could see a long bank of rhodies in full bloom, (closer view in the extra), which backed onto new broadleaf tree planting and a field with highland cattle - these too far away for the phone to focus. We returned the same way, noting all the birdsong - cuckoo, yellow hammer, chiff chaff, wren in particular, potentilla, valerian, water avens, and the sweep of Doronicum near the start of the walk.
On the way home we stopped at Whitmuir to see the newly opened Reuse Hub; it was just closing and not fully operational, gradually becoming established. We had a good chat with the manager and were most impressed with the work so far. The coffee called and we sat outside admiring the last of the cowslips beside the tables before pottering home.
