Grumpy Old Man

Another plant!

The last dry day today! So they say. Did some weeding and clearing up in the garden this morning and then decided I should go out for a walk, but never got round to it! Not feeling very lively today! I started out moving lots of timber offcuts which have been stacked outside for a long time - mostly from work that I’ve had done in the last year or so. I intended storing them under the house, but when I looked in and saw just how much timber there was I changed my mind and advertised it free on local Facebook pages to anyone who wants to come to pick it up! We’ll see.

After lunch I did some more garden clearing and then some more potting. I love growing plants on, but that doesn’t help with having too many crated up along the deck! I potted up a couple of dozen plants of Fieldia australis, a member of my favourite plant family, Gesneriaceae, and a native of cool rainforests along the eastern coast of Australia, where they scramble over mossy rocks and up tree trunks.  These were grown from cuttings acquired from the botanic garden in Edinburgh.

My Blip today is another plant, Diascia Diamond ‘Dark Orange’, a bedding plant which is growing in a trough on the deck.  I’ve seen darker orange than this, but what do I know!

I gave up and came in soon after 3.30. Shortly afterwards six drops of rain fell. That will water the garden!
