Christchurch old Municipal Chambers

This lovely old building, built in 1886-87 still stands. to me I wonder how it manages to survive all the earthquakes, especially since it is only a block away from the square, the center of the quake that destroyed the city of Christchurch 22/2/2011. I do note the fire chimney has gone and some bricks replace both sides near the top.
