Old Gaffers Association Jubilee

After all the high tech and plastic of Cowes Week this weekend the Yacht Haven hosts the largest gathering of traditional Old Gaffer vessels ever assembled.

The Old Gaffers Association is 50 years old this year and have organised the Regatta welcoming boats from all corners of this country,Belgium,France and the Netherlands for fun,racing and a big party.

During the next few days there is to be a fun regatta in the Haven and Saturday will see the largest number of Gaffers ever taking part in a race round the Solent. This will be followed by a parade of more than 300 boats within close sight of the esplanade to give spectators a close view of these wonderful craft. With good weather conditions it should be quite a sight.
