Seen Better Days, a Scarce Swallowtail!
Another first for me, Iphiclides podalirius, flew overhead as I was weeding this morning, so that certainly stopped work for a while! He, or she, is a tatty specimen having lost its tail ends and the top of its left wing but nevertheless, it is stunning with those stripes. These are a protected and endandered species in many parts of Europe, what a thrill! Thank you buddleia again!
Lovely against a bluer than blue sky in large.
I am exhausted from a marathon gardening session today so just a communal thanks for yesterday's spotlighted blue remembered hills.
