Travails of the season

Farmer R. had to harvest his wheat very late this year, and is now late with planting his next crop. Still, the wheat is now stubble, with the odd clump of ears left on the edges of the fields. Farmer R. doesn't know that his travails provide me with contrasting blips as the season moves on, for example here in May and again here in June.
