Longside

Longside this languid country road,
At summer's deep, sweet ladleful of time,
Dark, newly refreshed pavement held
By grassy-green fingertips and petalled vine,
Beneath the loosest weave of breeze and birdsong
Floating over fragrant harps of pine,
A crystal stream, an aria sings,
An ancient song of Life and Earth entwined.
