Helen's

My friend went down south about 10 days ago. She was off to commemorate 5 years since her brother, head brewer at St Austells brewery, passed away.

On the way back, she was dropping in on her 93 year old Dad. Her Dad is inspiring. He still cycles every day for about 2 hours. He stays alone and is very capable of looking after himself.

She left him on Thursday and got halfway home when she heard he had been knocked off of his bike and had broken his femur. Back she went. He is fine. He is complaining about wanting out of hospital and threatening to sign himself out.

I have been watering her garden. She is consumed with guilt that I'm doing this for so long and during such a hot spell. As you can see, her garden is gorgeous. This is no hardship. It's a lesson in planting and compatibility. It's a joy to spend time here. I come home inspired to dig up this, and move that in my own space. No guilt necessary.
