Snow Gums
We had to drive to Orange (2hrs west) today to pick up some spectacles so took the opportunity for a bit of exploring.
An extinct volcano, nearby Mt Canobolas at 1,397m is the highest mountain in the region. Higher than anything in the Blue Mountains.
It was quite chilly up there today (10C) and often gets snow in winter. The presence of snow gums confirms its sub alpine climate.
We meandered home via the quaint historic village of Millthorpe where we stopped for a late lunch.
