Exam results day - part 1

After a sleepless night we woke up early waiting to get the email from the school giving Luke his AS results. I think his smile here says it all - we were very pleased with his results! Though to be truthful he was not as pleased as we were. Luke is a very focused and determined young man, he is committed to achieving his goals whether they are in academics, music or sport, and he always wants better results than he achieves. He is a typical first born child in that he pushes himself hard and expects much from himself. His results are good enough to apply to Oxford University, which has always been his plan. He is planning on reading Modern Languages (French and German) and then would like a career in finance, so much post graduate studying will be involved.

I say 'Exam Results Part 1' as next week we get Adam's GCSE results. Adam also expects much from himself. He is very bright and works in a very efficient manner so does not have to put in the hours that others do, but when he works he works extremely effectively. He took two AS Maths modules a year early, and got 96% and 98% and was not happy - he expected results of 100%!!

So a sort-of-celebratory day, although this is just the first step in a long journey that these youngsters have to take today, hopefully culminating in a decent job one day.
