Speckled Wood

I placed an order last Wednesday for some clear bags in which I pack each of my cards for sale. The package was despatched the same day from Southampton, for delivery to me in Woodford Green by FedEx the next day (the company's standard delivery method). Thursday came and went, and so did Friday, and still no package had arrived. I hadn’t been given a tracking number, so I couldn’t track it.

I emailed the company this morning and was told "It looks like there was a slight delay getting the parcel to your delivery depot. It is out for delivery today." I was also given a tracking number.

On checking the tracking number, I discovered that my parcel had been away on its holidays. Having been picked up in Southampton on Wednesday, there was no trace of it on Thursday, but on Friday morning it was heading to Paisley in Scotland. It then came back to Warwickshire on Saturday before finally arriving at our local depot in Barking, East London, this morning. So much for FedEx’s Next Day Delivery service costing £6.95!

I needed to go out this afternoon to deliver a condolence card to a friend, so Smithers kindly manned the fort and accepted the parcel for me in my absence. I made a detour across the Green on my way back from delivering the card and took this shot of a Speckled Wood butterfly having a rest on the grass.
