Cragside
In the past five years we have been up in Northumberland every autumn, but never once visited this NT property.
It’s set in a stunning location and was a really interesting place. The house which started as a modest fishing lodge, was created and extended by William Armstrong who was a Victorian inventor. It was the original smart home and was designed to host dignitaries and royalty in luxury and convenience. It was the first house in the world to be lit by hydro-electric light bulbs.
We had another delicious lunch, this time at the Cook and Barker in Merton-on-the-moor. We’ve really been spoilt for meals this holiday.
