The Town
Thank you very much for the stars and favs yesterday. I’m flattered.
Still catching up after my world tour of The Highlands yesterday. Everything -including blip- pushed back by the unplanned visit to the west.
We needed to renew Bruce’s medicine today. One tablet was going to run out tonight and we had phoned the vet Monday morning to organise more. We were down at the surgery late afternoon and still their delivery had not arrived. Ultimately we got a prescription and went to the High Street chemist such was our concern.
The vet’s building is tucked right in at the bottom of the hill. While waiting for the van to arrive I took a quick wee tramp up a well mad path to quite a good vantage point.
If I may digress; the hill and mountain names in the Highlands all sound very exciting. When written down (in Gaelic) they look impossible to pronounce yet when delivered in the native tongue sound smooth and easy to repeat. Often the name conveys the colour or shape of the hill and direct translation to English can be cumbersome and loses the poetic ring. (There is at least one very rude one relating to the Devil’s anatomy) I say all this as one who can not speak the language. Beinn a' Chlaidheimh (Ben a Clave) is hill of the sword; pretty exciting. How disappointing then that the hill which Fort Willam is built on, or around the bottom of, is called “The Cow Hill”.
Anyway this quick pan around is some of the lower reaches of Fort William from the Cow Hill.
We are working on slopes above the end of Loch Fyne tomorrow.
