Saxon King

Here begins number 1 in a series of blips looking at the locality. It's always amazing what you can find out when you start looking. History tells us that Olton was part of a Saxon settlement known as Ulverli, which was owned by Edwin, earl of Mercia. William the Conqueror granted the lands to a Saxon princess in 1072 and soon afterwards to Baron de Limesi. The artist John McKenna designed this in 2002 and included the Baron's coat of arms on the shield.
