Looking toward Keilder

Today EP & I spent a day doing some off road cycling in Keilder Forest. It was a fun day although tough going so our muscles are aching tonight. I think we will sleep soundly! Keilder Water is the largest man made reservoir in Britain, opened relatively recently in 1982 & the forest is the largest man made woodland in Europe. The open scenery was beautiful with the purple heather flowering, the bracken vibrantly green and the rowan berries slowly ripening. I deliberately left my SLR in the car as it was too tough a ride to be stopping off to take pictures. This was taken on the journey home and although a bit of a disappointing shot gives an idea of the wild & beautiful Northumbrian countryside.
