Flowering
I decided that today, for a change, I would catch a bus to North Hykeham and visit one of my favourite charity shops. It's in aid of St Barnabas, the charity that was so helpful when Brian's dad had the cancer that ended his life 11 years ago. It's a large, two floor shop, the top floor of which has mainly books.
I bought three books, a pair of jeans, some old magazines to cut up and use in my niche hobby and a pack of notepaper for the grand total of £11.50!
I took the photo I'm Blipping in there too. It shows a gardening related display.
Job done, get the bus home! Or so I thought... Getting a bus to North Hykeham was very easy. Getting one back was another story. I waited for ages - buses approached the stop and turned off before they got to it, even though the information board said that at least one of them should have stopped there. Another one came along and stopped. The driver cheerily informed me that his bus was for a different company from the one I had a ticket for. "Like trying to spend a. Asda voucher in Tesco's!" He thought it was hilarious! I didn't see the funny side, after a fruitless hour of waiting near a spidery wooden shelter.
By now I needed the bathroom, and was thirsty and hungry, so I went to Asda. Then I walked up to another stop before the point where I'd seen buses turn off. Two buses went past on the other side of the road, but none on my side.
In the end I crossed the road and waited at one of those stops and finally I got a bus! I think it must be some sort of circular route rather than a there and back one. At least I know for next time...
I'm very glad to be home now!
