First honey
Finally, one of the honey frames is fully capped, so of course I took it and slipped in an empty one in its place! They will never notice!
It’s thick golden honey, which I think means it’s from the amazing dandelion display we have just had. Another of the hives also has a reasonable amount of honey building up, but our beekeepers group feel that the nectar flow is dropping off due to the very dry weather.
The bees will carry on searching for nectar of course, but they can use up as much as they gather when flowers only have a little to give.
This period can be a hungry gap for honeybees and they may start eating their stores…in spite of all the lovely weather!
