You Win Some, You Lose Some

The clematis on one end of the house is having a wildly floriferous year ... but the honeysuckle at the other end is in a terrible state, so sad looking I wouldn't want you to have to look at it. Last year it had a dreadful infestation of black fly, and produced very few flowers. This year it has succumbed to both black and green fly, and what buds there are look as if they have been turned to stone. I fear cutting it back almost to the ground will be the outcome, as it has become the host plant for these horrid little aphids.
