Leeds travelodge
I set off after lunch to drive up to Leeds for a one day conference tomorrow. I thought about going by train, but it would take as long, and this way I can call in at my sister’s on my way home tomorrow. However, driving does mean you’re at the mercy of traffic jams etc, plus it’s more tiring. The traffic was better than I’d expected, but it was very slow around Birmingham where HS2 is being routed. Amazingly, there were no roadworks on the M1 - that’s a big change to the last few times I’ve come this way - and there weren’t too many idiots on the road.
However, it did take a long while, and as time was ticking on, I decided to eat at a services rather than having to go out when I’d got to the hotel to find somewhere. In retrospect, it wasn’t the best choice - a half warm slice of pizza from Greggs - but I hadn’t realised I could have got something to eat in the Travelodge when I arrived. Hey ho, I got some yogurt and fruit from the co-op across the road so that will do. But I’m looking forward to eating with you tomorrow, Jan!
The hotel is close to the main train station so I hope the trains won’t keep me awake - hopefully I’ll be tired enough to sleep through anything!
