ONE GOOD TERN DESERVES ANOTHER

The Little Terns have reterned (sorry!) to the part of the beach which has been fenced off and protected for them. They're busy pairing up and scraping out nest sites among the pebbles, as these two are, and although they're incredibly well camouflaged they're making so much noise this year that there must be scores of them which is great. It's such a privilege to have them breeding only a few yards from the promenade, the funfair, the ice cream shops and the car parks, but they do need protecting. They're sharing the site with Ringed Plovers, which are even harder to spot among the stones (extra).
