That Will Do!

The Eagle Has Landed

No, not the blue tit, the extra - that's B, S & the Flumlet's plane coming in to land after their holiday in the USA, as tracked on the phone and photographed from the bedroom windows. We know they arrived home, too.

And the blue tit? Well, I was sitting at the dining table when I heard a fluttery-clattery sound and found this wee thing trying to fly out of the sun room window. Seemingly it had come in the 2 inch gap of the open hopper window but didn't realise that was also an exit. I opened the French door wide and it worked its way along the plate glass and escaped, landing on the arm of the bench a yard or so away. And it sat there for several minutes, pulse racing, gathering its wits until it felt able to fly to the tree. I sat by the door, taking my time to take photographs, making soothing Dr Doolittle noises then just sat, as I had noticed a wren come to drink at the various dishes and buckets. That's very unusual.

Once the birdlife had sorted themselves out Mr Flum cleaned the big bird bath, to the delight of two crows and assorted pigeons. But, for the rest of the afternoon, noticing the chicks all clamouring for food, I was afraid that the bird had been seriously hurt and I feared all was lost - however, both parents have been in and fed them so the crisis is averted. There's still a long way to go before I can relax.
