A Royal Day with Dolly!

Third blipmeet, this time in Edinburgh.  I took took the train from Dundee to Edinburgh and Dolly came up from Newcastle.  We met at the Scotsman Hotel for lunch.  I was delighted to see the amazing Ivor is still the concierge (he saved me when I stayed at the Scotsman several years ago and helped me find my train which had changed platforms.) I said, “You probably don’t remember me…”. But he immediately said, “The lady from Maine.”  Amazing.  He’s been with The Scotsman for 18 years and is a fixture at the hotel.  He got us a taxi to Greyfriar’s Kirk yard so we could visit the grave of the famous Greyfriar’s Bobby and lay a stick in his honor.  Henry and Dolly’s travel friend, Baxter, did the honors.  We went to the National Gallery of Scotland next and after looking at some exhibits, like Dolly the first cloned animal of course, we went to the roof terrace which has an amazing view of Edinburgh Castle and Arthur’s Seat.  We finished up at the Greyfriar’s Pub before I ordered a taxi to take Dolly back to the train station and me to Prestonfield House, my home for the next three days.  More about this amazing hotel tomorrow.  Here’s a link to Bobby’s story. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Greyfriars_Bobby
