Dogs in our bathroom
1998 was a very good year for Talpa and a couple of his friends. Scientists strive to publish their papers in the very best journals and Nature, the international journal of science, is one of the very best, if not the best. We finally hit the jackpot with a paper on the extraordinarily high energetic costs of hunting in African wild dogs Lycaon pictus and the devastating impact of having their food stolen by hyaenas. The cherry on the cake was to have my photographs appear on the front cover of the journal. The cover hangs in our bathroom, a small daily reminder of past glories! The location map shows where it all took place.
Enough self-gratification, I promise that tomorrow I shall return to my normal modest self!
