The roof of Boots in the High Street…

The other day I realised that I was nearer to 80 than 70. Blimey; how did that happen!

In the early hours of last Saturday morning a thunder storm passed over the island; yes I saw the flash, and it disappeared as quickly as it came. But at 10 am on Saturday morning staff of Boots went up to a storeroom on the top floor and realised they could see daylight through the ceiling. Firefighters and scaffolders worked together to secure the building until permanent repairs could be carried out.
Their lift has been out of order for over a year so goodness knows how long it will take them to fix the roof!
When I walked past this morning I saw a sign on the door saying no access to the first floor until further notice. The first floor is children and babies stuff so of no interest to me but my GP’s surgery is also on that floor so I guess that will have to temporarily close.
Bearing in mind that I’ve realised how old I am I’m wondering not when the doc might return to town but will I still be mobile and have all my marbles by then!

And that brings me nicely to today’s saying of the day

To 'lose one's marbles' is to lose one's mind. In the 1954 film The Caine Mutiny Humphrey Bogart linked insanity with marbles when he showed his character, the demented Lt. Cmdr. Queeg, restlessly jiggling a set of metal balls when under stress in court.
