Regression

Almost three years after I arrived in Tanzania I think my Swahili is regressing from an already poor foundation. I met with Teacher Yusuf online after a long pause caused by both my travels and my apathy. The lesson mostly consisted of me looking gormless and not remembering verbs that I’d previously learnt. During one of Yusuf’s power outages I sent him a screen capture to show I was still online, which he then posted on his WhatsApp status updates.

I spent the rest of the day watching travel videos of East Timor, Morocco and Bali. Delights await. Starting in 2026.
