Misty morning view from the Istiane area of the Black Isle.
Some bonding going on between the male Mute Swan at Inverness Campus and a young female, which is bad news if, as I suspect, the young female is the youngster that's been lurking about the area, and refusing to leave since she hatched here last year, i.e. he's her father. It was obvious a while back that his mate was not well, and probably died, as she disappeared shortly after looking very poorly. He'd continued to try and chase the youngster away, until she emerged from the reedbed with the all white adult plumage. The pink on her beak rather than orange is the feature that shows she's young.
(At the very late time I'm uploading this back-Blip, in May of 2025, she's been incubating eggs for weeks, and they should hatch any day. Just hope I'm wrong about her parentage.
At work today. Heard that a colleague handed in his notice on Tuesday last week, before going on leave for the whole period of his notice. Spent most of the day sorting out some issues and delivered items for him/his section... despite no guidance from line managers as to what should be done in his absence.
