I had a busy day of work, with four long calls. At lunchtime I walked down into the town centre, and round to the supermarket I shopped at last year to take its nearby Turf zone.

In the evening my host drove us to Runavík to watch its team (NSÍ) play Klaksvíkar Ítróttarfelag (KÍ). Both teams had won all eight of their games this season, so one 100% record had to go. The away end was packed 30 minutes before kick-off, and the atmosphere was great. The weather was poor, with KÍ playing directly into a strong wind and light rain in the first half. Despite this, they scored first, but NSÍ soon equalised and were dominant with the wind behind then. They didn't play so badly against the wind and rain in the second half either, but KÍ's meteorological advantage eventually paid off, and the winning goal came with 8 minutes left to play. After the final whistle, the players came over to acknowledge the great support we'd given them.

By then many of the kids at the game, and friends of players had invaded the pitch. It's not a problem because, despite the drink being taken (by the adults!) it's very civilised in the crowd, everyone knows everyone, and the pitch is artificial. It's the same at half-time, the kids cone on to have a kick-around. Indeed, they were still there when the players came back on, with the game restarting only when the last of the kids have left the playing surface.

Back at the apartment I was invited upstairs for beer and aquavit with my hosts. It was interesting to chat about Faroese issues...
