Looking Back at Clonakilty
Tonight we reached Blarney - TM blew a kiss at the tower which houses the famous stone. I don't think he needs a lot of help when it comes to making speeches ...
It was a long drive from Skibbereen. We followed the sat-nav and it took us via innumerable little roads and hamlets that weren't on my map. It was pretty countryside - dairy cattle in the fields, looking very contented. Silage making is in full swing - all those tractors on the mad wee roads didn't help the driver's stress levels.
The lad on the checkout in Dunnes, where we stopped to buy food, suggested we go to a beach across the bay for our picnic lunch, and, miraculously we found it. This is it, and we had a lovely walk. It's called Inchydoney.
Driving along we looked down on a grassy lawn just above the sea, with a flower-woven arch at the edge and dozens of white chairs set out around it. As we were coming back we saw a bridal party enthroned in the bower and their colourful congregation of guests encircling them. What an amazing setting for a wedding, and weren't they blessed to have the perfect weather for it.
