A Box of Tricks

This afternoon I took my car up to Darlington to a tow-bar fitters. The other week when I bought our caravan it turned out the tow-bar wiring on my car had not been fully installed.

It does appear the tow bar was fitted when the car was new but wiring that is associated with caravans were not included. It does suggest the car may only have towed trailers in the past or caravans without fridges or ATC (Automatic Trailer Control).

For those who are not in the know ATC helps prevent a caravan swinging all over the place if it is windy, travelling too fast or poorly ladened. A useful addition and required by my insurance company. 

The box of tricks on the floor is a simple set of lights that shows power is going through each of the 13 pins on the hook-up. All now appears in order for a forthcoming trip.
